![]() A Healing Approach I am a nurse. I am a holistic nurse, believing that while curing is not always possible, healing is. We face and observe many chronic diseases, across the age spectrum, of both a physical and emotional nature. Pain, again physical and / or emotional, factors into many lives. A holistic approach addresses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the person, always believing that healing is possible. In the end, many report an overall improvement in their quality of life, while living every day with a chronic, often debilitating, disease process. Living life as a wounded healer is something we all have the power to do in some fashion. We meet wounded healers every day, whether we ever know it or not. When we allow ourselves to accept the reciprocal process of healing, we get as much as we give in the process. When we help others, we cannot help but be helped ourselves. The compassion we share is an instrument of our healing. I recognized a fellow wounded healer in my friend, Sannel Larson, who lives every day with fibromyalgia. This illness struck Sannel later in life, yet she refused to allow it to get the upper hand over her life. Instead Sannel picked up her pen, as writing became her savior. Putting words down on the paper is the only way to block out some of the pain she endures every day. Her strength, as well as her creative and imaginative mind keeps her going. Through healing herself, my friend is helping so many who read and appreciate her expressive writing. Sannel practices the process of positive thinking and believes that we can do anything we set our minds to, as long as we have patience, because it will probably not happen overnight. It was easy for me to select Sannel as my first friend featured on Inspiration Station. Her determination to become a writer, poet and illustrator are the greatest evidence of her patience and inner strength. I am so proud that her life-long dream to create books for children, has now become a reality. Sannel Larson is absolute proof that if you believe in yourself and your dreams, anything and everything is possible. about The healer's Life![]() Author and Illustrator, Sannel Larson was born in the small seaside town of Stenungsund in Sweden. Sannel's lovely childhood, surrounded by animals of every kind, playing with her best friend in the farm, horseback riding through green forests in summer, swimming in the lakes under the midnight-sun, and skating on frozen ponds and lakes in winter, would present her later with the inspiration for all her imaginative stories. Melvin...bad, bad kitten! ... is Sannel's first children's book, a life-long dream of hers. Meeting melvin ...I was thoroughly enchanted with my first read through of Sannel's: Melvin... bad, bad kitten! I was reminded of a recent Holistic class I taught to a group of nurses. We were doing a Healing ritual exercise in class, where everyone needed to discuss / share something that brought them a feeling of comfort, healing. A beautiful young Mother of two cried as she talked about rocking her two children to sleep every night. She had a healthy newborn daughter and a three-year-old autistic son. She embraced the peacefulness and gratitude she felt every evening, holding her babies and reading them stories. I loved hearing the sound of her voice. I imagined her kids thriving on every level with this intimate bonding. I was reminded of my own childhood, as Mom read to me. Sannel's sweet story of the naughty kitten, Melvin...and his antics, reminded me of these healing and comforting memories. Make memories yourself...buy a copy or two of this adorable book for the special youngsters in your life, and the magic will begin... Thank you for stopping by. Peace, mar
