Inside marcoujor's head

The title of this post was inspired by a memory of a sitcom that aired from 1991-1994 called Inside Herman's Head.

Today I thought I’d give you a minor snippet of what’s inside my head.

I’m relieved...

…that two dear friends who live in Florida are safe, sound and with power since the ravages of Hurricane Irma. One of my friends went six days without electricity and was most thankful when she could take a hot shower.

I’m hopeful...

…that Hurricane Maria will be diverted from hitting our East coast on the heels of the devastating Irma.

All the while, I’ve been keeping my Canadian and West coast friends and their loved ones in my thoughts as brave firefighters continue to battle the wildfires and damages caused by extensive smoke.

I’m sad...

…that two of my dearest friends lost a parent over these last few weeks- one a father and one a mother.

Since words seem terribly inadequate at these times, I wanted to share this musical food for thought.

Alice, this is for you and your father, Carmen.

Peg, this is for you and ‘Mom’ Cathe.

I’m grateful...

...that I have three dedicated and compassionate rotations of students this semester.

This gives me hope for the future of Nursing, selfishly grooming those nurses who will one day care for me and my loved ones.

A gift that I have given myself daily since 1999 is a sense of daily appreciation for each and every act of goodness and kindness shown to me. I strive to give immediate feedback to this person or animal.

I remind myself to slow down and be mindful of the role that everyone plays in the orchestration of life. Thank you for allowing me to share a little of what goes on inside marcoujor’s head.

And, until next week, here is a song for the road...

Dear Maria, There you go again, showing you know what Friends are for. This morning, your thoughts of compassion and gratitude for those who have been through tough times & the appreciation for all the "goodness" in life~the ideal inspiration to begin my day.
If I awoke believing I had a heavy schedule to carry or nursing a few aches from yesterday's duties, it's all magically disappeared and I'm thrilled to be up, ready & loaded to take on the day!
By God, Ms Jordan, you may just replace my morning Multiple Vitamin!!..........Bless you, Amiga Mia & hold still while I hug you!........Paula

Beautiful as always Maria. So many are suffering from the multiple weather events. Your namesake is now hitting Puerto Rico. Prayers for all impacted by these storms and their aftermath. Barbara

I love that you are both positive, optimistic and also realistic, Maria. One thing I have to mention. This morning's report o Hurricane Maria said that the 'miss' of the US is not for sure. In the future days it's raging, it's course can vary as much as 1000 miles, including both directions, from that projection now. So stay positive and prayerful!! Always. Hugs!

'Its course' not 'it's course'. Autocorrect.

Thanks, dear Nellieanna.

The last I saw about 'Maria'... "After the storm passes the Southeast Bahamas, some models suggest it could find an escape route out to sea, remaining offshore from the East Coast, but it is way too early to sound the all-clear..."

I know this can change as quick as a blink so I will continue to hope for the best. Love you and have a peaceful day, Maria

Hi Mar...
Ok this one hit home and thank you, we just love seeing your words of compassion and love flow onto paper... Much like the first nectars of the day... reading your thoughts is an explosion of love and gratitude.
Like you at the end of each day I lay and ask myself what is the "Bestest Blessing" of the day. It allows me to look back and know that it has been a great day. By sharing like they say makes the world becomes a far better place.

Hugs from Alberta

Dear Mar

Hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, attacks by terrorists - every day comes with a shock to such an extend that one feels like echoing the phrase 'the end of the world is near'. In fact, these disasters have been part of mankind's lot since the beginning. The only thing that has changed is the communication channels between countries and nations. Thanks to TV and social media we now know what goes on all over the world.

What I'm trying to say is that we have friends all over the world, and we share their joy and sorrow.

Peg's loss is a foretaste of my own, and Alice's reminds me of the pain I have experienced with my father's.

May their knowledge that we hold them in our thoughts and prayers comforts them.

Thanks for the beautiful music!

Hugs,

Martie

Sending you lots of hugs, sweet Maria. I'm glad that Irma's wrath wasn't as bad on the east coast. I'm thinking of all the folks in the Caribbean.<3 You are such a wonderful, sweet soul! I loved learning about the doggies. I'm sorry about your friends' losses. As I read, I kept thinking about the ebbs and flows of life. It's not easy. When life flows, it makes it easier to endure the "ebbs." But the ebbs are still no fun. :/ Sending you loving thoughts and happy vibes!

Dear Cynthia,

My mom used to speak about the 'ebbs and flows' of life as well...so true and thank you for reminding us of this.

Love you and thanks for these sweet thoughts, Maria

Relieved, hopeful, sad - that pretty well sums up the roller coaster of emotions that have played out lately. I remain grateful for the wonderful years my Mom and I had and our special bond of friendship and family. You were and remain a part of that bond. Until later when I can safely listen to songs without bursting out in more tears I will keep these bookmarked.
Mom's service was beautiful and I'm so glad that my sister and brother and two of their children were able to come as well as my cousin, neighbors, friends and singers from the nursing home and her sister, Louise. She will need a lot of special attention in the coming days as she is devastated by the loss of her younger sibling.
Thank you for thinking of us and for your sweet post. Hugs.

Prof. Mahreer,

This went well with a fresh cup of afternoon Java. It's been quite a summer. So much loss, but many good things to be grateful for as well.

I'm grateful for your sharing of your head-space. It reflects the good things in your heart-space. 💗
