marcoujor: Ain't It Funny?

Ain't it funny how time slips away...?

Ah, Willie Nelson...what a voice!  Mom and I would sit on the porch and listen to songs like this and never have to say a word.  He said everything for us.  Now, especially during the month of May, I am drawn to listen to Willie's music and to remember Mom's wisdom.

Mom would have gotten such a kick out of my friend Vicki's recent post about me, Dear Mother Mareer

She would have really appreciated that I retained my high school paper from my experiences at F.W. Woolworth's and analyzed the role that it had in my career path as a psychiatric nurse recently in, marcoujor: Some Things Never Change

PictureAunt Baby
My husband and I are both reflective as we remember two years ago in May when his beautiful sister lost her fight to cancer.  The very daffodils that Aunt Baby surrounds herself in are an annual reminder of Dawn's love and legacy - as she would send bulbs to her brother every year for his March birthday.

And just as I began to feel an inkling of despair, as I do from time to time, I opened this e-mail from a student I recently taught:

Dear Maria,

I wanted to thank you for being an inspiration to me this past semester. You truly helped me push through the stress and complete this semester. Only one more until my license. ☺

Your words and actions have helped me during finals as well as in my personal life. I know that your advice and positive thoughts will fill my mind whenever I am troubled.

Since you like to share songs and good vibes, I would like to share one with you. Remember how I said I was in the choir on campus (president of it actually)? Well this weekend after singing for graduation, we will be singing down at the art museum for
Race for the Cure (we do this every year) and we get to sing with a singer Matt Goss. We are his backup for the song 'Strong' and it very much reminds me of you.

Thank you again for everything you've done for myself, as well as all of the other people whose lives you've touched and changed for the better!

Sincerely,

Dennis S

So, my beautiful student is going to be singing to find a cure...and he is going to be a nurse too? And I was starting to feel despair because...why...??  Uh, never mind.  AND he thinks I'm STRONG.  Let me go wipe my eyes and act accordingly.

Oh and how about this adorable pose of Andy Jordan and the Mother's Day Rhododendron he got for his Mommy?

Before you go, don't miss the rest of this week's latest in the Weeblyhood...

Thank you for your visit.

Until next week...

Peace,

mar

Dear Mother Mareer,
What a lovely reminiscing, hopeful post, showing how emotions can be channeled into constructive action by those who are willing to pause, reflect and go on in determined new ways. It's lovely that you received the beautiful feedback and surprise gift from your student!
No better feeling than knowing your strong modeling ability has been helpful to someone else in life.
I loved both the videos, dear friend, and you are always in my special thoughts this month. Beautiful post.
Love and special hugs, Vickster

Dear Vickster,

In Gestalt I'm learning to be better at 'receiving' gifts...like Dennis' note and song to me. I am so comfortable in the 'giving'.

Now, as I share my gifts in this kind of post, I can do BOTH, so how cool is that?

Love you and thanks for this awesome comment, mother mareer

Wait, Andy gardens. That hardly seems fair, a K9 prunner and I am sure he sings, so that makes him a crooner and I rushed over though I could have arrived sooner.

Oh, these Wednesdays!

Only one more day until Friday...

Isn't it swell to think that the beautiful Nuelle, with her Carriage Driver as well, will grace us? Do tell us, rhymer Mike there is no end to your series or your fans will tell you to go to...your next series (what did you think I was gonna say)?

Prof. Mahreer,

This is a beautiful post. What a wonderful letter from Dennis. Whenever you're in doubt, here is another one to refer to as a reminder that you're making differences in good ways.

Best wishes to Dennis for the career(s) blooming on his horizon. There'll be another nurse in the choir who won't mind to sing to their patients. ☺

Dear femme,

Thank you sooo much for picking up on that. My students have now heard me sing at various moments on the units! It thrills me to think that nurses like Dennis (who can REALLY sing...LOL) will be using all of their gifts - kinda holistic, huh?

Love and hugs and thanks, as ever, for all your assist, mar

Wow! An inspiring post all the way around, and I especially loved the ending when your student, Dennis, shared such a heartfelt thank you and dedicated the song to you!
Hugs & Love,
Gail

I love Willie too, Mar. When the page opened to his braids and beat up guitar, a smile came to my face. I could listen to him all day long!

What a beautiful message from your student. You can probably fill a book with the lovely cards, letters, and emails your students send you. It must have felt very surreal for him and his choir members to sing such a powerful song with Matt Goss.

I love the daffodils. Every spring, Geoff's sister brings life to this Earth, just as Miss Sammie is found in every raindrop and snowflake. How amazing is that?

Dear Sha,

Once again you've connected with my post...not surprising that you love the sounds of Willie as I do.

I would love to fill a book...I actually have a beautiful box filled with the most special cards you can imagine from students...going back years. Again, my friend, worth more than the salary ever...

And when the legacies of our loved ones are reborn every year in flowers or in Mother Nature's tears...yes, amazing is about the size of it... :))

Dear Mar

The only way of conquering our feelings and emotions, is to see ourselves objectively through the eyes of others. We are not our feelings/emotions, not even our thoughts; we are what we do, including what we say and write. (Not talking about writing fiction and acting a character on stage).

The way you miss your mother and beloved s.i.l., the way you handle your grief, and your anger, and your compassion, and your eagerness to share your knowledge and wisdom, is absolutely beautiful, Maria!

Love you!

You are always an inspiration. Whenever you are in doubt, think of all the people that look to you for your joy, friendship, and inspiration. Happy May.
