A World of Wonder

Wonder is a subject I sometimes take for granted, like happiness and love.

I experience wonder each and every day in a variety of ways.
"I think at a child's birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow them with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity."

Eleanor Roosevelt

Curiosity

I was one of those kids. Mom would write years later in her Journal that my favorite word was why.

Me...? I simply considered myself naturally curious.

I am especially intrigued with the curiosity of our unique personalities. I revel in this aspect of my chosen professions of nursing and teaching, readily admitting a spillover in my personal life.

Astonishment

Do you remember the last time you were completely and thoroughly astonished? Were you pleasantly surprised?

A friend and I happened upon a roadside Cafe in a small town we were exploring. Totally on faith, we stopped in.

Although the place was crawling with locals and tourists, we were instantly seated. The tables were intimately placed but we did not feel like sardines.

There was a wide mix of ages. Everyone was chatting, yet we could easily hear our own conversation.

The staff was efficient, courteous and everyone was wearing a heartfelt smile. The service was relaxed but we were checked on frequently.

Our meals were out of this world, clearly worth the wait and reasonable in price.

I know my friend would agree that it was an astonishingly wonderful experience ~ one that we will not soon forget.

Habits are viewed as routine. I take exception with that.

I make a habit of meeting new people whenever I can, in real time or virtually speaking... I find wonder in this practice.

Walking with my best pal, Andy, is one of the best ways to meet and greet new people and pooches as we explore the world of our neighborhood. His curious and sweet disposition is a natural magnet for the start of many a wondrous connection.

I can have a running conversation with a complete stranger in a grocery line, only to find out we have a mutual acquaintance along life's journey. That is a marvel to me.

DREAMS

Dreams are filled with wonder and possibility. Dreams are the foundation for hope.

Although I recognize my need for a practical and organized approach to life, I have learned to love the balance involved with my creativity and sense of wonder.

Life is meant to be experienced, enjoyed and cherished, filled with ordinary miracles.

Today I urge you to discover the wonder in your world.  In fact, find some every day and you'll wonder why it took you so long to start. ☺

Life should be filled with wonder and curiosity. The earth has been explored and some great adventures recorded. I think it good that you stay curious, that may be more rare than you think, but perhaps not amongst writers.

As a kid at my house the question, "Why" was answered with, 'Because I said so." Now that is curious. haha

One of the most wonderful wonders today is the opportunity we have to communicate with people all over the world via the Internet. Our world has no more boundaries. It seems to be expanding all of the day time, like the universe itself. Thank you for being in my world dear Maria. Love you lots!

Wonderful and that photo of Andy really makes me think that he and Tony are brothers. What a joy and a wonder to study their sense of wonder at everything along their path. Even the smallest of items, leaves, shoes, books, paper, all present a wonder to them. We can learn a lot from their example. Love you.

Dear Peg,

As we look out the window to drifting, steady snow and high winds, I wonder how I'll urge this dear dawg out to do his business...😱

Should prove to be a curious weekend indeed...😒

Love to you, Tony and Indy,
Maria and Andy

Dear Maria,

This is such a lovely post! I always enjoy seeing the world through my grandchildren's eyes, as their eyes are always filled with such wonder at every little thing. We should all never lose that childlike wonder of the world around us. There is such beauty to marvel at all around us each day. Thank you for this reminder too.

Please stay warm and safe in this winter weather!

Sending warm hugs your way,

Theresa

Maria.....I love this, sweet friend. Not too much is more fun than "new adventures." Our curiosities & searches seem to bring knowledge & happiness as well as a thirst for more of the same. Conversations I've had with total strangers often stay with me in a special place within.

Let's never stop wondering, for everything we learn for the first time, begins with a simple question....Why? From there we ask for more via When? Where? How?

It's a privilege to learn and then to share...especially with the wide open minds of children. This carries somber responsibility as well & we have to do our best. I learn as much from the mouths of babes as I think they do from me.

I hope you're braving Winter's Wrath in comfort & warmth. Sending a hug just in case you need an extra! Love to you, Geoff & Andy.

Dear Paula,

Thanks for this insightful comment...I totally agree that there is something to be learned every day from teachers of all ages.

We were blessed to be home safe and snug during the blizzard~ gradually getting out and about.

Love ya, Maria

Life would be so dull without curiosity, wonder, and adventure. Each day can be full of surprises and wonder-ful things. All we have to do is open our eyes and minds.
