marcoujor:  Musical Intermission - "H"

12/12/2018

Picture
Over the last couple weeks, two very dear friends have been involved in serious car accidents.

"H" was driving home from church. "A" was on the interstate and swerved to avoid a refrigerator that fell off a truck going over 80-miles / hour.

Thankfully both ladies are OK physically - most important. Their cars were not as fortunate.

If YOU have a lead foot, please slow down. Children will be enjoying a school break. Winter weather can cause plenty of highway hassle. Roads are busier with the many errands that find their way into our world at this time of year.

Take good care. Be safe. Enjoy this week's selections of vastly different styles of H-music:

Something Old:

Country and western music was a constant in our home when I was growing up. Loretta Lynn has a musical gift I've grown to appreciate over the years.

Something New:

The Marcus King Band's music has been described as "soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock." Take a listen to this winning combination - classic and modern at the same time.

Something Borrowed:

Two good friends told me about Pentatonix. One listen and I was hooked on their a cappella style. Check out their cover of  Hallelujah - filled with Heavenly Harmony.

Something Blue:

When I can, I listen to The Blues Show (with Johnny Meister)  on XPN (88.5) which runs on Saturday evenings (EST) starting at 7PM.  I discover many musical treasures - including the sassy sounds of Ms Zeno the Mojo Queen.

Dear Mareer,

Love this message to SLOW DOWN, and enjoy this beautiful season as it's meant to be enjoyed. This applies to so many areas in life. Catch yourself as you're rushing around shopping, and remind yourself, YOU are the gift to so many.
And that includes you, dear Mareer! You are my gift.
Love the music. A nice musical interlude for early morning here.
big hugs and love.

Holy H Mar! I just had a car accident! Two weeks ago driving home from work I hit a deer. Killed the deer (so sad) and wrecked my car. But I came out of it unscathed, except for being seriously shook up. And now going through the slow grind of dealing with insurance company to fix the car, and back to taking the bus to work. Sigh... Thanks for the music! V.

Oh dear Verlie,

I am so sorry that you also had an accident - so very grateful that you are OK. Being shaken up is beyond understandable.

I know you are an animal lover and am sorry also for the stress and sadness you may feel about that.

Hoping everything goes as smoothly as possible in the resolution with your insurance company.

Love you and please take good care of yourself, mar

Good morning mar - Slowing down is good advice. I feel like I must have slept in this morning as 'mar's desk'seems to be a very busy place where my favorite people have stopped by already to leave comments and gather energy to go about their holiday hustle. Oh, and "soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock" made me laugh.

Thanks, Maria, for the H of it all, for the harmonious, happily selected harmonies. Hoping you and yours stay safe in these days of holiday hooligan-hurried horrendous haste. Here's to hunkering in your harbor and to a happy, hassle-free holiday. Going in for the tunes now. Running out of h words. Oh, wait. Hugs!

Hi Maria, I love your music choices. I saw Loretta Lynn in concert a few decades ago, and it was fantastic. I love the Homesick a Hallelujah song and really every song.I am wishing you a joyful holiday season. God bless. Pam

Dear Pamela,

I am sure the Loretta Lynn concert was a fabulous experience. We had tickets to see her a few years back as well - sadly, she cancelled due to her health.

Your visit and kind words are much appreciated.

Merry Christmas to you too! Love, Maria

Dearest Maria

The death rate on SA's roads during holidays is shocking. An accident can happen in a second, and therefore we must be extremely alert while driving. Those who drive while intoxicated, and those who are operating their cellphones while driving, should be arrested.

Stay safe, dear Mar, and enjoy the season.

Hugs,
Martie

Dear Martie,

Sadly this is something SA and the USA have in common - wishing you and your beautiful family a peaceful, healthy and SAFE Christmas season.

Thanks for your faithful visits. With love and hugs, mar

Dear Maria,

Loved reading this post with the important message to slow down this holiday season. So glad to hear that your two friends came out ok, and have the fortune to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones. Many others may not be as fortunate.

Thank you for sharing the music of Pentatonix. Thanks to you and Martie I believe, who introduced this group's unique style and talents to me, I'm hooked on their cappella style music. I'll never grow tired listen to them.
Stay safe!

Love and hugs to you,
Sannel

Dear Sannel,

I'm also grateful beyond belief that A, H and (now) V are OK after their accidents.

I am ever grateful for my virtual friends and their generosity in sharing their musical favorites with me / us. Martie is at the top of that list!

Love you lots and big hugs to Freddie too, Maria

I love The Marcus King Band and Pentatonix. Very different kinds of music, but then again, I love all kinds of different music. Hehe.
A cappella just has a certain groove to it, you know? I also love your description of "soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock" - I immediately made a playlist from your Marcus King Band suggestion here. Hehe.
PS - thank you again for the Christmas card. You colored it! WOW! It looks like Zentangle. So prettyyyy!
I hope you have a wonderful week. So sorry about your friends. I hope they are recovering well. It can be traumatic, those car accidents. :/
Sending you hugs! xo
