marcoujor: Musical Intermission - "J"

12/26/2018

Picture
I happened upon this quotation and thought it'd be perfect to include in this week's post.

"The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark." -- Barbara Hall

I've given up on making New Year's resolutions. Barbara Hall's inspirational words remind me of the importance of embarking - the journey - the waking up every morning and trying our best - the ups and downs of life, making it even more precious to me.

On a similar note, I realize there will be "hits and misses" for you along my musical intermission series. My only wish is that you keep a song (any song, your song, a new song) in your hearts. Enjoy these "J" - songs  and join me in 2019 as we keep the music going ... !!

Something Old:

Anyone who knows Miss Sammie will recognize this song she frequently sang through our home.  To this day, it brings me instant smiles and a flood of memories ... :)
Something New:

Now based in Los Angeles, Mt. Joy is a five-piece indie rock band with roots in Philadelphia. I gave them a chance in 2016 out of loyalty. I'm not sorry and hope you'll enjoy their sound as I do.
Something Borrowed:

Thanks, dear Thomas! As usual, you have not let me down with your musical recommendations. I know those Big Bad Voodoo Dadddy concerts must have been amazing.
Something Blue:

Joe Bonamassa plays a mean Blues guitar - some of the finest IMHO. If you're not currently a fan, listen up. And if you are, enjoy ... :)

ShoutOuts

☙ Marmite ~A Superfood! Via WarnerWords
☙ Yukons Colourful 5% Wigwam Harry via Fireside with Rolly

See you in the New Year where I'll start up with some "K"-songs...!

Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with me each week. May 2019 be a happy, peaceful and compassionate year for us all. Hugs, mar

It's the journey, not the destination, trying to see life that way these days, thanks for the reminder soul sister. I will enjoy checking out your playlist on my day after Christmas counting my blessings, and eating leftovers (maybe make a turkey soup?) journey today....

Dear Soul Sister, V,

Thanks for continuing to send me your musical picks - you are introducing me (eventually, us) to some incredible talent.

Love you and your presence on this "desk". Wishing you a 2019 filled with joy, good health and peace.

Big hugs,
Maria

Hello Maria - Yes indeed, it is all about the journey. With any luck there are refueling stations at good intervals along the way. I will listen to the music later. Later.

Hoping you enjoyed some / all of the music this week, dear Mike.

When I think about it, music serves as "my" refueling station along this life journey.

Happy and healthy 2019 to you.
Hugs,
Maria

Merry day-after-Christmas to you! I hope it was a lovely day. :)
Love your musical selections as always. I love what you say about New Year's Resolutions. I don't do that, either. But I *do* set intentions for the year - not as goals, but as things to work toward and review at the end of the year...which I will be doing in a couple days. Hehe.
Sending you lots of hugs and light and glad tidings. May you have an incredible 2019. Happy New Year!

Dear Cynthia,

I agree that "intentions" is a kinder word for me to wrap my head around than "resolutions". Thanks for sharing this feedback / your compassionate wisdom.

Wishing you a fulfilling and peaceful 2019 as well.
Love you and hugs,
Maria

Listening to that first song now and it has my toes tapping. (Smile) Now that it is past Christmas, wishing you a beautiful new year to come.

Dear Pam,

What a kind comment - thank you! "Something Old" songs are a compilation of my childhood soundtrack. "Something Borrowed" have been discovered thanks to family and friend musical lovers in my life.

Happy and healthy 2019 to you too.
Love,
Maria

Dearest Mar

I have to emphasize this quote, as it is most certainly true for all of us:

"The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark." -- Barbara Hall

Some interesting music in here! Chuck Berry takes the cake.

Enjoy this last week of the year 2018!

Hugs,
Martie

Hi Sista,
I have obviously enjoyed the last of 2018 too well, as you can see by the lateness of this response ... ;)
Wishing you a smooth and stress-free return to work ... here's hoping!
Love you and a bushel of hugs, mar

Hey, Mar! I apologize for being absent. I try to get thru my email notifications from my writer friends during my lunch hours. It's not always possible to do so with the posts that include music because I like to watch and listen to each video. Too often I run out of time before that happens.

I wanted to be sure to let you know I think of you often and wish you a happy and safe new year. My good things be on your horizon.

Lots of Love,
Sha

Never a need to apologize, dear Sha - I know, all too well, how busy the days can get.

Love you and wishing you the best of the best in 2019, mar

Welcome to 2019, Prof. Jordan! Your quote reminded me of the following quote I recently read:
"Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That's just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful."
Happy New Year!

Wishing you happiness and fulfillment in this new year. I'm excited to welcome another nurse to our glorious profession ... :)

    Welcome to my desk...

I am a work in progress, so a rule of thumb is to expect the unexpected every week!

Pull up a comfy chair and make yourself at home.
