  • "Regardless of what is going on around you, make the best of what is within your power, and take the rest as it occurs."- Epictetus

  • These days this wise quotation speaks to me - so of course, I thought I'd share with you. This past weekend I was working on a new undertaking. For those of you who have come to my rescue with support, information and humor, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I could also hear Mom's wisdom saying such things as:

  • Rome wasn't built in a day.

    Be patient with yourself.

Take a break - walk away from it - look at it again with fresh eyes.

I spent my break time figuring out the songs for this week's post. And stepping away (temporarily) from my technological challenge was just what the doctor ordered. By George, I may figure this program out yet!

In the meantime, hoping you LOVE these "L" - songs. LISTEN, if you LIKE ... :)

Something Old:

This song brings back instant memories of my relatively carefree childhood. The song's title certainly makes an excellent point, eh?
Something New:

Rag 'n Bone Man, also know as Rory Charles Graham, has one of the most soulful sounds around this decade. This lesser known song is LOADED with LYRICAL delight - truly hoping you don't LOVE this any LESS than I do...!
Something Borrowed:

Although Lenny Kravitz has been making his own brand of R & B, soul and jazz-type music since 1981, I have only been listening to him for a few years thanks to a solid lead...! I'm making up for lost time.
Something Blue:

There is nothing "blue" (sad) about this little ditty by LIGHTNING Hopkins. Although the song doesn't get kicking for 30-seconds into the video, hoping you'll have fun listening to his banter as well. I instantly start dancing (even in my seat) when I listen to this stuff, just sayin' ... :)

Until next "M"-week, wishing you peace and a song in your heart, mar

Hi Maria - I failed the "L's" I have not heard of any of these musicians. As for technology, none of us can keep up with the rapid changes. And I am sure we all take a deep breath when facing a new program. Happy Wednesday

L = Listening to this great group from my youth. Love Can Make You Happy. Oh, yes, it can. I feel so blessed to have found my someone. We just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this week. !! Seems like yesterday on a beautiful, sunny day in January we were saying our vows.
Hugs to you dear, and all the best on your new project. Hoping to hear more details soon. Love = L

I'm a little late in getting here, friend! It's been a bit of a busy week but I hope this comment finds you well!
As I type, I'm listening to Lightning's Boogie, after playing all the other videos. I feel like moving...and my shoulders have spontaneously moved into rhythm. Hehe.
It reminds me of when I was a kid learning piano and I LOVED it when my teachers would give me boogie songs to learn. lol.
And I've always liked Lenny Kravitz, but hadn't heard much of his older stuff. Thank you for introducing that (new to me) song in the video above.
I hope you've had a great week. Happy Friday!! Sending you BIG hugs! xoxo

The music is always on and you are never late in arriving at my place, dear Cynthia. These weeks are absolutely getting busier...!

I love our shared passion for the blues - this little ditty (boogie) is natural energy for sure.

Have a great week! Boogie on ... :)

Dearest Maria

Your knowledge of songs is absolutely amazing, and a welcome escape for one who is totally exhausted after only one week's work at full power in a new year.

Creating a new course for students on college/university level is a challenge of another kind. I kept you in my thoughts and will continue to do so.

Epictetus' quote also speaks to me. Always!

Lots of love from the South Shithole. (You must have heard that a certain president labelled us with this very suitable name: Shithole. Sad, but indisputable!)

Dear Martie,
You work so hard. I'm glad you take the time to come here and relax with some musical background.
I am sorry and embarrassed about the unfortunate reference to your country. These type of remarks hurt my heart - unnecessary and untrue.
Love you and thank you for your ongoing love and support, mar

    Welcome to my desk...

I am a work in progress, so a rule of thumb is to expect the unexpected every week!

Pull up a comfy chair and make yourself at home.

    Thank you,

    mar
