marcoujor: Musical Intermission - "R"

August Authors is a website  created by Shannon Henry as a way to share her passion for reading and writing with others. It is for anyone who loves to read and for those who love to write.

In Shannon's own words, "August Authors is meant to explore both the real lives of authors and the fictional lives authors create. Everyone has a story. Some people tell their stories. And some people use their stories to create more stories for others."

"A Chat with Maria Jordan" is her most recent interview done with yours truly. Some of the questions gave me a mental workout for sure.

Thanks for this feature and all the best to you with August Authors, Shannon.

As far as the music this week, the "R's" have it - enjoy!

Something Old:

I can feel Mom smiling down on this song - sad as heck but most country songs from those days were. Where is my hairbrush microphone btw ... ?!
Something New:

Jason Isbell serves as today's chaser to Kitty Wells. Although Jason got his musical start in 2001 with the Drive-By Truckers, I didn't learn about him until the last few years. He sings like an old "country" soul - I believe Mom would have loved his sound as much as I do.
Something Borrowed:

No way could I exclude The Boss from this alphabetical musical intermission.
An extra bonus is the soulful sax played by Mr. Clarence Clemons - the best ever IMHO.

While I always liked Bruce's music, I became hooked in 2003 when we heard him in concert at the Lincoln Financial Theater in Philly - thanks, Henry!

Something Blue:

Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges is a bluesy combination of good humor and inspiration. The title of this song is one of my chief life mantras - Rise Above It - (see Murdock, I was listening).

What a nice way to start my morning today, Maria. Music is always appreciated. I've heard of Jason Isbell. However, I hadn't listened to any of his music until today. Thanks for sharing it. Also, thanks for your kind words about August Authors. They are much appreciated. YOU are much appreciated.

Hi mar - I made coffee this morning and headed right over to mar's desk. Later, I will be finding my way over to "A Chat with Maria Jordan" but not until I listen to the 'R' selections.

Hi Maria, I enjoyed your music choices as always. I hear some singers on here that I am not familiar with and that is good. I remember that Kitty Wells song I think from my youth. I lik." ed the message in "Rise Above It.

I hope you have a great time until we meet again next Wednesday. Hugs to you.

Ohhhh, 'Release Me' arouses so many beautiful as well as sad memories. Although only Engelbert Humperdink's beautiful version reached SA.

Mar, I am getting anxious because we're getting closer to Z. I hope you have already a new series in mind. By now I am completely emotionally dependent of your weekly posts!

On my way to Shannon's blog.

Hugs,
Martie

Aw thanks, Martie. I will always have some kind of music to share - never a need to worry about that.

Glad to introduce you to a different rendition of "Release Me".

Love you and hugs too, mar

Another round of fun songs, my friend. :) Happy Wednesday! Congrats on your interview. Maya Angelou is one of my favorites, too. Everywhere I go around the web, folks always comment on your kindness. That's because you are incredible. :)

Good morning, Vickster,
Sorry for the delay in my response - my days are busy but good.
I love "Shouting Out" your posts - you dish out plenty of food for thought in the subjects you write on.
Hope your day is lovely... I am "off to the races"! Love, mareer
