marcoujor: Musical Intermission - "Z"

"You will enrich your life immeasurably if you approach it with a sense of wonder and discovery, and always challenge yourself to try new things." -- Nate Berkus

This quote seemed timely this week for a couple reasons.

Our family is welcoming Miss Fannie, a beautiful 9-week English Springer Spaniel to our home this Easter weekend. The wonder and discovery that a puppy brings is like none other to me.

We are also looking forward to seeing how
our 5-year old Black Lab, Andy, will rise to the challenge of being Miss Fannie's BIG brother...  More to come ... that's fur sure!

On a musical note, I am amazed at how quickly this A to Z Musical Intermission has come to a conclusion. Thanks to those loyal listeners who have been with me since October, 2018, when I started this musical journey. Your comments and suggestions along the way have been duly noted and ever so much appreciated.

In fact, your feedback has given me the motivation to continue channeling my inner - DJ to create a uniquely-themed sound track each and every week - starting next Wednesday. This is a challenge that I meet with open arms - and hopefully a cooperating website ...

Please enjoy the four "Z"- tunes as this labor of love concludes ... any ides for future themes, artists, songs are always welcome in the comments or via email:
Something Old

Although this tune can be an instant association with Disney, I prefer this rendition - hope you do as well...
Something New

I happened upon this song in my search for a new-Z song. Alicia Keys is not currently in my listening sphere - thinking I need to rectify this...
Something Borrowed

Dolores O'Riordan's untimely death in January, 2018 caused The Cranberries to disband. Her hauntingly powerful vocals will always live on - especially in a song like "Z"ombie.

Something Blue

I wanted to end the Blues series with an infusion of ska-swing, as performed by the Cherry Poppin' Daddies.

"Zoot Suit Riot" is one of those songs that can completely (and wonderfully) turn a frown into a smile - instantly.

Hello mar - Miss Fannie and Andy will turn out to be best buds. That is after she puts him in his place. Interesting song choices. I am sure the dj in you will find a way to continue bringing music to your readers.

Zee, zed, zero, zoom, you made it! Wowee. What a great collection of songs over the past months. Looking forward to your next adventure and DJ selections.
Also, thrilled that you've chosen a companion for your lovely Andy. He needs a friend. And I love her name. Can't wait to see photos of the two of them together. When we brought in a new puppy (Dolly) for our survivor of two losses, Slick, she put him immediately in his place as protector and subordinate. I can't wait to hear how the two new dogs get along. Love and hugs.

Cherry Poppin Daddies played the kind of music I loved to dance to. Miss Fannie is a lucky girl to be coming into your home. I hope Andy will love her. Your musical- intermission was a work of love and it was fun to look back at the good old days musically. Until next time. Love and hugs.

Hi Maria, Well, you finally got to Z. I liked you beginning quote today. tt sounds like a great way to live.

Alicia Keys has a beautiful voice. I would like to listen to her more. I also liked the Zoot Suits. It always looks like the people dancing are having a great time.

Have a lovely Easter weekend. Love, Pam

I always loved the Cranberries. Wait, I STILL do. I was sad to hear about Dolores and the song Zombies is so telling, isn't it?
In any case, the Cranberries were who I listened to so often (along with Alanis Morrissette) on my walkman (wow...that was awhile ago!) when I'd go for cross country runs/practice. So funny how songs do that, huh? I'll have to check out the other artists more in-depth. I know these songs, but it was still fun to listen to see their particular version. Awesome choices!
And your puppy! OMG...look at that sweet, sweet face. So sweet, so cute! I hope the transition of her coming to be with your family is a smooth one. :) Sending you big hugs and wishes for a wonderful week! xoxo

I also have long loved The Cranberries, dear Cynthia - something else we have in common.

Sweet is the best word for Miss Fannie. I look forward to sharing more "sweetness" with you all in the weeks to come.

Happy Friday and have a peaceful weekend. Love, Maria

Auw, Miss Fanny is absolutely beautiful! I am sure Andy will love her at first sight. May she brings you loads of happiness and joy.

The Z's were quite a surprise. Something of all sorts, indeed.

Thanks a lot, dear Mar, for this lovely series. I have enjoyed every letter with all my heart. It was also good to see our friends sharing comments. Mar's Hang-Out' seems to be a perfect name for this site of yours.

Lots of hugs,

Martie

Thanks, dear Martie ... hmmm, "Mar's Hang Out"? ... I like it - let me think on this a bit.

Thanks for your positivity about Andy / meeting Miss Fannie. I also feel strongly that he is quite ready to assume the protective role of big brother.

I'm currently working on next week's theme... hoping you and everyone will love it ... :)

Love and hugs to you too, mar
