Our goal is to help each student become as special as she can be as an individual -- not to be more special than the kid sitting next to her." -- Rafe Esquith Another wonderful group of men and women graduated with a BSN from my university a couple weekends ago. How wonderful to know that the future of our nursing profession is in such capable and willing hands. Thanks to Dilon, Lauren, Justina and Rotimi for taking the time to write me a note of appreciation. Some shared beautiful graduation shots with family - even pictures of my "stars" holding my book, A Toolbox for Novice Nurses From A to Z, proudly. The beat goes on as we start up with the Summer semester this week. This post is a reminder to all former and current students that nursing is a career that involves both playing solitaire and playing with partners - aka being independent and working collaboratively with a team. And by the way, Senator Maureen Walsh, the previous paragraph involves a figure of speech. I'm anxious to see how many nurses you encounter playing cards on the job if you are not too busy to actually shadow one of us... Please enjoy this shot of my "doubles", Andy and Miss Fannie Jordan, who certainly have "solitary" minds at times. This week, I'll spin some singles music. Any guesses as to next week's theme...!! Dea Maria, I hope you are getting a break between semisters. I think you are definitely a fantastic teacher. Your book is excellent for nursing students. The quote today was profound.

Hello mar - Listening to Neil Diamond; a nice way to start a day. Hope your next crop of students is as good as this one that you speak so kindly about. Looks like Miss Fannie has cut out her place in the family.

I enjoyed this playlist, Mar. I'd never heard the Carpenter's song before today. Very sad.

Sweet Mar! What wonderful music selections - all pieces I LOVE! And forgive my tardiness: I just returned from a birthday beach trip. It was so good and it's so good to be home. :)
