Pentatonix is named after the pentatonic scale, a musical scale with five notes per octave, representing the five members of the group. The last letter was replaced with an x. Very cool. Although the quintet derives its influences from pop, reggae, hip hop and classical music, Pentatonix & Dolly Parton's Jolene won a Grammy this year for Country Duo or Group Performance. Check this out to see why... Whether the original artist is able to appear with Pentatonix or not, the renditions are authentic, precise and sure to provoke chills and/or tears in me. I had a difficult time choosing which of two videos to include here, so, when you have the time, enjoy Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and this medley of the one and only Michael Jackson library of songs...
In fact, I invite you to check out their repertoire of songs. It's developed into quite an amazing collection in six years. I know readers like Elyse, Genna, Martie, Paula, Ruby, Sannel, Shauna and others will enjoy spending time getting lost in these musical memories. If this is your first taste of Pentatonix, enjoy and savor every musical note. ShoutOutsUntil next week, wishing you the magic of music that pleases your ears,
mar

Hi mar - Surprise, surprise, surprise - a presentation introducing music to us. I will listen to your selections throughout the day, as the digs are demanding their time now. Perfect way to start a day.

Ohhh, I am totally intoxicated after listening to Pentatonix. They are absolutely out of this world. The most talented vocalists, I would say. Mar, I am so glad you immediately resonated with this favourite group of mine. You have introduced me to Adele, and I will always think of you while listening to her songs. And I know you will have me in your mind while listening to P, and that will be such an honor for me. I love you and Pentatonix. They are beyond brilliant!

Mar, you've introduced me to a wonderful group, Pentatonix, and I love their rendition of Imagine. ( one of the most beautiful songs ever written. ) And of course Michael lives within my heart. I subscribed to Pentatonix, and I tweeted this heartfelt piece for others to enjoy. Thank you for always having a song in your heart. Love you..Peace.

Hey Sis, I heard the "Imagine" cover a couple of weeks ago and purchased the "Classics" album as soon as it became available. Being a music obsessive, I've so many albums that I've yet to listen to, and that is still one of them. Good taste, though! :)

Maria....Have said it before and shall repeat myself....acapella harmony is the music of my heart and soul. I wish I could send you a copy of the Blk & Wht snap shot of myself at 6 months old, seated on my Dad's left knee, being held by his arm, wrapped round my tiny body, as he leaned his head in, to join the 3 heads of his brothers, belting out the sweet harmony sung in my grandmother's kitchen....week after week, year after year....We kids were literally raised on it.

I love this group! Singing a Capella takes real talent. I really enjoyed the first two videos, Mar. I'm going back to check out their Queen and MJ renditions.
