![]() Funky Friday is a tradition I look forward to each week. I listen to two hours of the most amazing music on my public radio station, WXPN, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. It grounds me for the entire week to come. David Dye has been the DJ mastermind of this program for over 20 years. He has a collection of soul, rhythm and blues, funk and alternative music spanning from the 1960s to present that pleases each and every week. Whether stuck in traffic after a long week of work or relaxing with my feet up at home, it's impossible to be in a bad mood when grooving to Funky Friday... This past weekend featured an extra funkadelic treat ~ as the top #1 soul hits from January, 1970 to December, 1979 hit the air waves. I got so much house cleaning and organizing done grooving to these tunes from my teen years...😀 Here is a little poem and musical sampling I hope you will enjoy. I had to give a nod to the Godfather of Soul, Mr James Brown...! Ode To the FunkThe Funk ain't no junk Listen, don't be punk, Parliament is sent They will represent! Wanna see you dance, In yo' disco pants! 'I Know You Got Soul' Put down Billy Joel...! This ain't no Bread, Get that out yo' head. When you hear James Brown, It's time to get down! 'Get up off That Thing' Lemme hear you sing. Havin' fun, you say? Listen up, I'll play...! "The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing." James Brown ![]() Wanted to share the latest from Weeblyhood as well: Want money? Jiminy Cricket! via WarnerWords Down Through The Holidays via flashPress Until next week, keep dancing. Hugs, mar

A great way to get over a funk is by listening to funk music! Funtabulous videos and the Ode to the Funk was funkalicious! :)

Music is one of the miracles of humanity; and soul is joyful and cathartic. I pictured you doing your housekeeping while listening to those funky tunes. I was there, too, in my mind, and flipped on the stereo as I started cleaning out one of the closets in the guestroom. I've been putting this off for faaar too long. "I feeeel good...I knew that I would now..." Thank you for this cool musing!

Gotta have music in my life! One of the first things I ask when I'm being considered for a new job is, "can I have music?" Can't imagine going through the day without it.

Did someone say dancing shoes? I'll have to hunt them down. Now girl, I see you take a potshot at Bread in your otherwise catchy poem. Oye!
