marcoujor: Zoey's Morning After

12/5/2016

Zoey was thrilled as a
dog at dinnertime by the feedback we got after her debut post: Zen Pen from Zoey.

I'm thrilled to report that my
'mini-me' muse of a mutt is at it again ... scribing with dogged determination--like a dog with a bone.

Oh, you get the idea...

Today sure has been rainy. Andy and I counted rain drops as we perched in the bay window - waiting for Daddy and Mom to return from work.

Yippee...!! Mom opened the garage door - I could almost smell the treats heading our way - after we took care of our business. Mom uses funny words, that's for sure. Like she says business and I say _______(sorry, Mom made me take that word out)!

Things became a blur real fast.

I was happy when Mom gave Andy and me hugs, as she opened the door to the sun porch (which is a funny name when you stop and think about it).

Next I proceeded to run across the pool cover... wait, that doesn't make sense to you? I always run across the pool cover. You could say it's my thang!

In one wag of a tail, I was down. I mean, I was sinking fast in the middle of the pool. This was more water than I'd ever seen in one dog bowl. I couldn't move my paws. It was really scary!

Zoey's ocean!
In a flash, I saw my Mom. She can run - who knew? She started singing my name over and over again. Quite weird, as she can be, but I found myself calming down. I felt safe.

Then, Mom got down on her hands and knees. She didn't even care that she was getting soaked, she just kept singing my name. So, I started putting one paw in front of the other, in Mom's direction.

I noticed Andy. He faithfully stayed on the side lines cuz we are the only two Labs in the world who can't swim! Yet, he was telling me, in his brotherly way, to keep calm as Mom pulled me to safety by my collar, inch by inch.

Quickly, I found myself surrounded by hugs and love, even Andy's tail was wagging a mile a minute. We all headed to the sun porch, which felt right warm and cozy, and Mom gave us towel time. We love that! Sure feels good when we're all wet and slippery.

I told Daddy what happened the minute he got home, before he could even take off his coat! I know he loves that. Aren't I a sarcastic dawg?

We made Mom some tea. What the heck else can you do?

She sipped it, heating pad around her shoulders, while watching The Poseidon Adventure, clearly riveted to Shelly Winters' story line ...and this song, oh wow, maybe she will stop playing it the morning after.

Corny songs aside, I can tell you one thing, my Mom loves me and would do anything for me. That loyalty goes both ways, now and furrever.

Oh, and guess what! I’ll just tell you!Well, I'll show you!

Mom's friend, Aunt Sannel Larson, made this beautiful portrait of me! I love having my mug on the wall with Andy, Aunt Baby and Alvin, and having the only name that starts with Z! ☺

Zoey is very a musing. What an adventure! Thought she could walk on water.

Well, as a musing as my girl is - we can be sure she does not walk on water!

100% for Zoey's writing skills and her description of a traumatic experience.

I hope she will never run across the pool cover again. Lol!

I also hope she will keep on entertaining us with her awesome stories.

Hugs to all of you - Mar, Zoey, Andy & Daddy :)

Thanks, dear Martie - would you believe Zoey still runs across the pool cover - as it is her thang!

I'm at least grateful our sweet dear wasn't traumatized by the incident. Hugs to you too from the J's... <3

That was some adventure for your new explorer, Zoey. Thankfully you were able to get her out and that Andy didn't join her for a winter swim party.
I love the portraits of all the sweet babies. Sannel is incredibly talented and so are you to write this amusing and yet scary post.
Love and hugs

Zoey is quite the explorer, dear Peg. I agree it was good Andy didn't decide to 'double the adventure - at least on this day'.

Glad you appreciate Sannel's talent as much as I do.

Have a peaceful night. Love you, mar

I suspect Zoey will be authoring her own book eventually. She's off to a grand start with blogging 💖

Hahaha. . .Oh, sweet, funny Zoey!! Thank you for giving this auntie the chuckles this morning. So much so, that I spilled my first cup of coffee, but not to worry, my keyboard is OK. :)
I love the family K9 gallery, which keeps growing. It's been so much fun and a lovely experience to have been a part of it. Looking forward to read more about you and your brother Andy's daily adventures, but will make sure not to hold a cup of coffee in my hand while doing so. ;)
Send my love and hugs to the family.
Love you lots,
Aunt Sannel

Ah, Aunt Sannel...even though your comment gave us the giggles, we are sorry you spilled your coffee...

Perhaps I should follow Mike's example and put a disclaimer on such future posts...?!

Love you and Freddie too, Maria, Andy and (of course) Zoey

Zoey you are becoming a star in your own write! Love the image of your Mom grovelling on her hands and knees as she tries to haul you off the pool cover!
Umm, was the cover damaged at all? You never did say. Just thinking...
Maybe your vocabulary will be expanding a lot as you try more of these hot dogging stunts, and your mom expresses herself!
Good, fun blogging here!
Love and hugs to you both, plus a smooch for Andy. Gonna have some serious sibling rivalry here if you carry on like this!

"in your own write"...Love that and this comment, dear Vickster.

Not surprised this gave you the giggles as well. These sibs are keeping me on my toes - in times of both rivalry and friendship.

Love you and have a peaceful day, mareer

What a scary venture, Zoey! Your mama's the best. She'll always be there for you and Andy. Just please be more careful next time. It's really too cold for your mom to go diving after you. You don't want her to get sick now, do you?

Take care of your mom. She loves you lots!

Thanks, Aunt Sha... I know you're right. I need to keep Mom around - those snacks, those snacks...hmmmmmm!

Sending hugs and doggie kisses, Zoey
