Poetic Ponderings

After publishing my second poem, Betrayal, a good friend emailed me to see if she could help!  I hastened to explain that my poetry is a cathartic release of universal emotions and feelings.

In my first series, An Alphabet of Affirmations, I developed a positive mantra for healing, from Awe to Zeal, and as I build this collection of poems, I plan to explore those sorrowful and challenging feelings we experience along life's journey.

My goal in this second series is to promote hope, peace and encouragement in all who read. Thank you for taking the time to visit and share.

BETRAYAL

Unbelievable
All the pieces fit in place
Raw emotion felt

Excuses given
Ears taking it all in now
Searching for logic

Looking into self
A mind, two hands and a will
Overcoming all.

Looking into self
A mind, two hands and a will
Overcoming all.

Betrayal is extremely painful and difficult to overcome. It causes an ongoing war in our soul between our human tendencies to trust, to belief, to rely on someone/something, to know with all of our heart that we are safe and sound. Our happiness and joy depend on our ability to overcome betrayal.

Mar, if there is only one woman who deserves a medal because she was able to overcome 'all', that person would be you. Your inner strength and will-power knows no boundaries. This poetic musing of yours says all we need to know about betrayal. Your advice is short and sweet and YOU are the living proof that following this advice leads us to a level of emotional maturity where we can handle even the betrayal of Life itself.

Profound and touching!

Dear Maria,
Betrayal leaves such a hole in ones soul, leaving a scar, that will always remind us that as humans, we are imperfect beings and have great potential to hurt whether by choice or ones own frailties but being on the receiving end surly is almost too much to bear but your are right we can over come in time. This was very powerful in so many ways, evoking many emotions for sure.
Love and hugs,
Kimmie

Dear Kimmie,

Thank you for your comment and e-mail. Your compassion and friendship means the world. This is going to be a poetic series of some of the darker feelings I have had throughout my life journey, as they are universal to many I believe. I am well and love you for asking. Hugs and have a happy weekend, mar

So much said in so few words...one of the criteria I use in deciding whether a writer has talent...and you, my dear, have talent.

Hello Mar,

Betrayal is so hurtful and can stay with you a lifetime, but thank goodness you move forward and the memory fades. One never completely forgets, but it is like a stepping stone, you learn and the path you follow widens. This is beautiful.

Love,

Ruby

Ruby,

Kate Bush is a power house of a voice. I felt like Mom sent me this song yesterday on the radio, so I had to use it for my poem.

From the many defeats I've had in my life, I have risen from them stronger than ever, I would not allow myself to be swallowed by guilt, blame or criticism. I know you are a very strong woman, I have measured it in your words Maria. I am happy to have gotten to know such a talented writer as yourself, your heart, spirit and soul strengthens so many around you as they do me. Thank you for sharing your brilliant words and the stirring soulful video, she is a very talented singer.

Maria, this poem says it all. It's all about survival and looking to your 'self' to keep going in a positive direction. We all have it in us, we just need to go inside and pull from our strength.

Dear Maria, very powerful piece! Betrayal is so very devastating indeed and it is so important to be that overcomer from such betrayal, for we are still here for some reason. Love, Theresa
